ABSTRACT:
A dianilinoglutacondialdehyde compound is described, which is represented by the following formula (Ia) or (Ib): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 each represents an alkyl group or an aryl group and may be connected to each other; R.sup.3 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkoxy group or a halogen atom; R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 each represents a hydrogen atom or a non-metallic atom which is required to be connected to each other to form a 5- or 6-membered ring; and X.sup.- represents BF.sub.4.sup.-, SbF.sub.6.sup.- or PF.sub.6.sup.-. A process for the preparation of the compound as described above is also described.
