ABSTRACT:
A rotary drill bit is provided which uses a plurality of hemispherically shaped diamond cutting elements, each having a cleaved, planar face. The diamonds are disposed in the bit such that the planar faces provide a plurality of knife-like cutting surfaces which fracture the formation being drilled and groove the fractured material.
