ABSTRACT:
An automatic machine and process for removing semi-shells from a foundry moulding machine for overturning said shells and for disposing them in a work area remote from the foundry moulding machine. Apparatus includes a multi-armed fork mounted for pivotal movement about a horizontal axis, the fork carrying flanged shell grasping members and piston-cylinder means for moving the grasping members of the shell into grasping relationship, the fork pivoting after the shells have been grasped to move the shells to an intermediate position in which they are automatically overturned by virtue of the pivotal movement and then horizontally moving the overturned shells from the intermediate position to a position more remote from the foundry machine wherein work can be performed thereon in comfort.
