ABSTRACT:
A manure spreader, in combination with a tractor, consisting of a tank with a horizontal axis aligned with the normal movement of the tractor which tows it. A comminuter is provided between the tractor and the tank which has an inlet from the tank near its bottom and four rotating flail blades curved forwardly near their ends. A pair of opposite outlets lead to hoses which selectively may be connected to ejectors on a cultivator carried by the tractor's three-point hitch or the hoses may be connected to pipes leading to spray-type spreaders disposed near the tractor. In one embodiment, the inlet to the comminuter is tangential to a circumference circumscribed by ends of the flail blades with a knife disposed in a lower portion of same. In another embodiment, the entrance into the comminuter is about one-third the distance up from the bottom of its casing. A pump which may either pull a vacuum or place a pressure on the tank may be mounted on the tank's frame. Alternatively, the tank may be filled by gravity through a closeable opening on its top. In the embodiment wherein the tank pressure is controlled by a pump, the opening is on the tank's bottom and the outlet duct therefrom extends from a cylindrical flange for this closeable opening in the tank's bottom.
