ABSTRACT:
A device for moving a path of a moving data carrier toward and away from a surface area of a sub-carrier characterized by two pivotal support members which are mounted to pivot about respective pivot points and are pivotable between a first or forward position with a data carrier disposed closely adjacent the surface area of the sub-carrier and a second or outward position with the data carrier spaced from the suface area of the sub-carrier. The pivotal support members each have a first engaging zone and a second engaging zone and are symmetrically disposed relative to a center of the contact area so that the data carrier is in continual engagement with all of the engaging zone and maintained under a constant tension regardless of the position of the support members.
