ABSTRACT:
The invention relates to a monitoring device for a control unit having a ety chain. In accordance with the invention, the monitoring device has a testable switching device which is provided with input and output terminals such that a monitoring loop may be set up from a plurality of testable switching devices and a sequence of digital signals can, in particular, be transmitted via this loop as a continuous signal so that a "digital stand-by current loop" is obtained.
