ABSTRACT:
A device for measuring components of force and moment applied to a vehicle tire, which is generally used for automobile tire testing in co-operation with a multi-component load cell structure fixed to a wheel shaft together with a tire to be tested to rotate therewith for picking up the component forces and moments as electric signals. The device includes an arithmetic unit adapted for sampling the data indicative of the component forces and moments and the datum indicative of the angle of rotation at a predetermined interval and storing the same for future use after transforming into the axial components belonging to an orthogonal co-ordinate system fixed to the body of vehicle. This device has such a unique advantage that the load cell structure can be attached directly to a real vehicle without any troublesome modification or re-construction in its parts such as wheel shaft, brake drum and likes, thereby enabling real vehicle driving test.
