ABSTRACT:
A device for driving a needle into the tissues of a patient, the needle being a dart-like point attached by a shank to a head, and the device including a body having a bore therethrough, the needle occupying a zone of the bore near its outlet, a sliding pusher member in the bore having a split at one end to grip the head of the needle, the bore being shaped to compress the split end on the head of the needle when the pusher member is retracted, and to release the grip when the pusher member is advanced, and an actuator to advance the pusher member through a stroke of limited length.
