The present invention relates to a device (10) for analyzing and archiving at least one combinatorial library of materials, comprising at least:a. an area for analyzing and holding materials, consisting at least of two sections (12) capable of holding at least two building blocks (20),b. means for feeding and/or discharging fluid media to and/or from at least one section (12),c. means for identifying the device (10) or the combinatorial library of materials or for identifying the device (10) and the combinatorial library of materials.
