ABSTRACT:
A detector for radiant heat has a housing with means movable therein between positions for controlling an electrical circuit. A pair of elongate metallic strips are disposed generally in overlaying relation and have adjacent portions thereof respectively interconnected, and one of the strips is adapted to be subjected to the radiant heat while generally shielding at least a part of the other of the strips therefrom. Means is spaced from the interconnected adjacent portions of the strips for separating them, and the one strip is elongatable upon subjection of radiant heat thereto relative to the shielded other strip for effecting pivotal movement of the strips generally about the separating means. Means is disposed between at least one of the one and other strips and the controlling means for effecting movement thereof to at least one of the circuit controlling positions upon the pivotal movement of the strips.
A method of actuating a detector for radiant heat, a system in which the detector is utilized, and actuating means for the detector are also disclosed.
