ABSTRACT:
Products and materials used in the biomedical field are depyrogenated by prolonged contact with a solution or suspension of about 0.1% to about 10% by weight of a nonionic amphiphile selected from the group consisting of substances having the general formula RC.sub.6 H.sub.4 (OC.sub.2 H.sub.4).sub.n OH wherein R is octyl or nonyl and n is at least 3, followed by liquid phase separation of said amphiphile from the resulting depyrogenated product or material.
