A depression head for pump mechanism increasing sealability on the discharge port and enabling favorable shutting of the liquid leakage, said depression head comprising a mounting cylinder assembly3having an upright sliding cylinder communicating with the interior of the stem2; a body4adapted to be depressible relative to the mounting cylinder assembly3and having an attachment cylinder11fitted on the sliding cylinder, a valve chamber disposed above the attachment cylinder and defining a discharge port12opened its leading end; a valve member5forwardly biased to close the discharge port19and defining a passage between the discharge port and a communication port12which is also communicating with the interior of a pump cylinder; and a lever member6for coupling to the valve member5to open the discharge port in response to the depression of the head; wherein a resistive force against the depression of the body with respect to the stem is smaller than a resistive force against the depression of the stem itself.
