ABSTRACT:
In a dental x-ray tube head, the x-ray tube is in a casing that supports the tube and shields against stray radiation being projected to the environment through the housing of the tube head. The casing has an aperture for exit of the primary x-ray beam which is directed toward the examination subject. A hollow conical casting extension has its open-ended base intergral with the lower wall of the housing and its open apex end proximate to the aperture in the shield casing. A hollow conical liner comprised of x-ray absorbent material is fastened in the conical casting extension. The shield casing and liner are comprised of resin which is impregnated with barium sulphate.
