ABSTRACT:
An improved dental wedge has a body coupled to a head configured to prevent slipping of a dental instrument used to grip the wedge. The head has multiple flat gripping surfaces which enable a practioner to securely grasp the wedge from a variety of different angles. The head preferably has non-slip surfaces such as a resilient, compressible cap, a textured surface, or a coating. A neck preferably couples the head to the body. The neck is configured to be smaller in diameter than the body and the head. Because of the neck, the wedge includes a groove for placement of a dental instrument therein. The neck also preferably having a plurality of flat surfaces extending about a circumference thereof, the flat surfaces on the neck being preferably offset with respect to the flat surfaces on the head.
