ABSTRACT:
A dense barium crown glass consisting essentially of, as calculated in weight % on an oxide basis, 35-42% SiO.sub.2, 11-17% B.sub.2 O.sub.3, 5.5-7.7% Al.sub.2 O.sub.3, 35-42% BaO, 0.25-1.5% Li.sub.2 O. The glasses have a liquidus temperature bellow 900.degree. C. and a viscosity at the liquidus temperature that is greater than 1000 Pa.s (10,000 poises).
