ABSTRACT:
A process for decolorizing sugar solutions by contacting them with highly crosslinked, macroporous copolymers functionalized with weak-acid or weak-base ion exchange functional groups is disclosed. Treatment of sugar syrups using macroporous functionalized adsorbents allows for multiple regeneration cycles without loss of sugar decolorization properties.
