ABSTRACT:
A decentered optical system has a first lens unit having positive refractive power and a second lens unit having positive refractive power arranged in the order in which they are listed from a screen to a liquid crystal display device. Each of the first and second lens units includes a lens surface which is tilted and decentered with respect to the surface of the foregoing liquid crystal display device. The decentered optical system permits reduction in the sizes of the lenses used while maintaining good optical performance at the same time.
