ABSTRACT:
A deblocking filtering apparatus has a D mode operation circuit for deblocking filtering defined by MPEG-4,a T mode operation circuit,an operation mode determination circuit for determining whether the D mode operation circuit or the T mode operation circuit is to be performed, anda selector for switching the output of the D mode operation circuit and the output of the T mode operation circuit in accordance with the results of the operation mode determination circuit. Further, before the D mode operation circuit and the T mode operation circuit initiate their operations, the operation mode determination circuit performs an operation and transmits a fixed value, instead of an input pixel value, to a non-adaptive operation circuit. As a result, power consumption is reduced.
