ABSTRACT:
A DC power source device comprises a MOS-FET5which performs the intermittent switching operation for converting DC input from a DC power supply1into high frequency electric power; a control circuit9for turning MOS-FET5on and off; and a rectifying smoother6for converting the high frequency electric power through MOS-FET5into a DC power output supplied to a load50.Control circuit 9 comprises an output current controller11for controlling the on-off term of MOS-FET5to make DC output current IOthrough load50settle toward a rated value IOMAX; a shunt regulator24for receiving a drive current ISHsupplied from rectifying smoother6and producing a reference voltage VR1to regulate the rated value IOMAXof output current controller11;and a constant current source32for keeping drive current ISHon a substantially constant level under the rated output current value condition and reduced output voltage condition. Constant current source32functions to supply shunt regulator24with minimum drive current ISHto maintain reference voltage VREFon a constant level under the reduced output voltage, and also to control drive current ISHto shunt regulator24to a necessary but minimum level under the rated value of DC output current.
