ABSTRACT:
An inverter has a semiconductor switch circuit in the primary winding of a transformer such that each of the switches of the switch circuit is controlled by pulse-width modulation (PWM) to supply a constant ac current and a constant ac voltage to a load, such as a cold cathode fluorescent light, connected to a secondary winding of the transformer. A common slow-start control circuit is provided in the inverter circuit to enable a common slow startup of the PWM control of the output voltage and output current. This arrangement suppresses an excessive voltage and an inrushing current during a startup.
