ABSTRACT:
Cyclic phosphine oxides of the formula: ##STR1## wherein P is phosphorus, O is oxygen, A is an alkylene chain of 2 to 12 carbon atoms, Z is a polar group and R represents the carbon atoms in a phosphorus-containing ring formed by alkylating an ethylenically unsaturated cyclic hydrocarbon with phosphine.
The cyclic phosphine oxides are useful as flame retardants for styrene modified polyphenylene ether resins.
