ABSTRACT:
A cyclic olefin-based polymer containing a repeating unit represented by formula (1), an optical material containing the cyclic olefin-based polymer, a polarizing plate containing the optical material, and a liquid crystal display device containing the polarizing plate:in which R1represents a substituent; L represents a single bond or a divalent linking group, and forms an alcohol together with the —OH group; p represents an integer of 0 or 1; q represents an integer of from 0 to 3; r represents an integer of from 1 to 4; and R1and L may be combined with each other to form a 5- to 7-membered ring.
