ABSTRACT:
Cyanoformates and cyanoformamides of the formula ##EQU1## wherein A represents a radical selected from --OR and ##EQU2## said R, R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 individually being selected from lower alkyl, unsubstituted phenyl or naphthyl and substituted phenyl or naphthyl wherein the substituents are individually selected from lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, hydroxy, halo and nitro radicals are bleach activators of high strength and good activity at low temperatures in peroxygen bleaching compositions.
