ABSTRACT:
A synthetic, layered, crystalline aluminosilicate. The aluminosilicate has the general formula (expressed as moles of oxide ratios): (M.sub.2
O).sub.x : (SiO.sub.2).sub.y : (Al.sub.2 O.sub.3).sub.z wherein M represents one or more n-valent cations selected from sodium, potassium and other cations capable of replacing sodium or potassium by ion-exchange. The ratio y/z is between 15 and 300. The ratio x/z is determined from the criterion of electron neutrality between anions and cations, and wherein the structural aluminum is tetrahedrally coordinated in the crystal lattice of the above formula. The aluminosilicates of the invention are used as catalysts for the preparation of higher hydrocarbons from raw material containing olefins or oxygenates. The aluminosilicates are prepared from a synthesis mixture comprising the following compounds and molar ratios: SiO.sub.2 /Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 : 5-500; M.sub.2
O/SiO.sub.2 : 0.1-10; OH/SiO.sub.2 : 0.1-5; and H.sub.2 O/SiO.sub.2 : 5-200. The synthesis mixture is maintained under autogenous pressure at a temperature of 80.degree.-270.degree. C. for four hours to 100 days.
