ABSTRACT:
Crystalline 4,1',6'-trichloro-4,1',6'-trideoxy-galactosucrose exists as the orthorhombic anhydrous form and as the pentahydrate, both of which are more stable than amorphous TGS. Crystals are obtained from seeded aqueous solutions, above 38.degree. C. for the anhydrate; below 38.degree. C. for the pentahydrate.
