ABSTRACT:
A cross-key rotational alignment locking device for a VSI-type mineral breaker comprises a generally annular keyway102in the top edge portion of the main shaft12of the breaker, the annular keyway defining an upwardly extending pilot key104, a plurality of circumferentially spaced slots126in the upper portion of a cylindrical taper lock108disposed around the main shaft, the slots in communication with the annular keyway, and a cross-key130having a generally annular main body132disposed in the annular keyway102, the pilot key104received in a central aperture136in the main body132of the cross-key130, and the cross-key having a plurality of radially-extending arms128disposed in the plurality of slots126, such that the taper lock108is locked in rotational alignment with the shaft12. In the preferred embodiment a bronze sleeve110having a longitudinally extending split120is interposed between the taper lock108and the shaft12.
