ABSTRACT:
The invention provides a coupling for releasably securing one end of a rod-like member. To this end a body is dimensioned to receive the rod end and support a locking element. The locking element is displaceable with respect to the body to engage the rod end and is associated with rotatable camming means. Partial rotation of the camming means imparts a camming action to force the locking element into locking engagement with the rod end and further rotation of the camming means withdraws the element to unlock the rod end. The locking partial rotation of the camming means is through an arc of substantially 90.degree. and the unlocking further rotation is through a similar arc in the same or the opposite direction.
