ABSTRACT:
A counterholding tool for absorbing torque while tightening screws or the like, which has an element for engaging the screw nut and a stop. The element and the stop are movable relative to one another, and a releasable locking mechanism is provided by means of which the position of the two components relative to one another can be fixed.
