ABSTRACT:
Water-in-oil emulsions containing from 2 to 20% by weight of polymeric emulsifiers comprising statistical copolymers composed of units of the general formulae ##STR1## in the molar ratio of (I) to (II) of 2:1 to 20:1, wherein X is hydrogen or methyl, R.sub.1 is alkyl having 6 to 24 carbon atoms, and R.sub.2 is --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --OH, --CH.sub.2 --CH(OH)--CH.sub.3,--CH.sub.2 --CH(OH)--CH.sub.2 OH or --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --O--CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --OH; 20 to 75% by weight of water; and the remainder to 100% by weight of conventional oily substances used in cosmetic emulsions.
