ABSTRACT:
A corrugated pipe2has a plurality of corrugation structures10, 12positioned adjacent one another. The corrugation structures10, 12comprise an inner cylindrical wall22, two annular wall portions28, 32that extend outwardly from the inner cylindrical wall22, and a bowed annular wall portion40that is connected to the outer ends36, 38of the two annular wall portions28, 32. The corrugation structure10, 12includes a centroid48, 49and at least a portion of the inner surface50of the bowed wall portion40has a radius R1centered on the centroid48, 49and at least a portion of the outer surface52of the bowed wall portion40has a radius R2centered on the centroid48, 49. The cavity56defined by the corrugation structure10, 12has an inner surface with an inner radius R1, R3that is equal to or greater than one half the thickness T1of the inner cylindrical wall22. The profile of the corrugation structure10, 12is configured to optimally accept forces caused by backfill soil positioned over the pipe2. A method of manufacturing a corrugated pipe2includes manufacturing a first, a second, and a third corrugated pipe80, 90, 100, with each pipe having an inner diameter ID and an outer diameter OD. The inner diameter ID is chosen such that the first pipe80can be telescopically inserted into the second pipe90and the second pipe90can be telescopically inserted into the third pipe100. A method of shipping a plurality of different diameter pipes is also provided.
