ABSTRACT:
Apparatus for releasably securing or chucking a workpiece such as a roll of web material includes a rotatable member having a slot defined therein, with a rigid member or chuck blade pivotally mounted in the slot. Rotation of the workpiece in relation to the spindle pivots the rigid member and extends it so that the workpiece is wedged across the spindle and the rigid member.
