ABSTRACT:
A superconducting rotating electric machine has superconducting rotor windings made from a high-temperature superconductor having a critical temperature of at least 78.degree. K. The rotor windings are cooled by a liquid coolant such as liquid nitrogen which is sprayed from the stator directly at the outer surface of the rotor.
