Metal cookware coated with a multilayer system including a primer with more Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 and a blend of PTFE and PFA or FEP, a midcoat with less Al.sub.2 O.sub.3, and a topcoat with PTFE, and processes for preparing such coating systems.
