ABSTRACT:
A convertible sofa-bed unit for a vehicle in which a back section is mounted on a seat section and is moveable from an upright position near the rear of the seat section to a horizontal position in front of the seat section, and a device is provided for preventing the movement of said back toward the forward edge of the seat in response to a sudden forward lurching of the back section. The strap is preferably connected at one end to the rear of the back section near the upper edge thereof and is wound on a ratchet controlled reel preferably disposed beneath the rear edge of the seat section, and an inertia responsive device prevents unreeling of the strap when the sudden forward lurching of the back section occurs momentarily.
