ABSTRACT:
Force amplifying means5comprises a tapered member41extending vertically downward from the lower end of an operating rod3, a disk member42provided at the upper end of a valve stem16, and front and rear pivotal members43, 44arranged between the two members41, 42and opposed to each other with the tapered member41positioned therebetween, the pivotal members43, 44being pivotally movable about respective pivots45, 46. Each of the pivotal members43, 44has a plate body43a, 44a, an upper contact face43b, 44bformed on an upper portion of the body and in bearing contact with a tapered face of the tapered member41, and a lower contact face43c, 44cformed on a lower portion of the body and bearing on the upper surface of the disk member42. The lower contact face43c, 44cof each pivotal member is in the form of a circular-arc cam face centered about a center line positioned away from the axis of the pivot45, 46.
