ABSTRACT:
A control system for use with an eraser for removing charges from the surface of the photoconductive member of an electrophotographic copying machine before the photoconductive member is uniformly charged by a charger. When the eraser malfunctions, completely or substantially failing to operate properly, the control circuit detects the malfunction and stops the operation of at least the charger to prevent a rise in the surface potential of the photoconductive member.
