ABSTRACT:
There is an emptying opening (18) at a given height on one side of the bottom (29) of the composting chamber (20) in a decomposition latrine with a rotatable stirring means (26a). In normal stirring, the means rotates for moving material away from the opening, and in emptying, the direction of rotation is reversed so that material may be discharged through the opening. The stirring means comprises six to twelve stirring members in the form of flat, bar-like members (50) extending between the end walls (11, 34) of the chamber (20).
