ABSTRACT:
A thin film adapted for forming seals about a closure attached to a container, which film is of uniaxially oriented polyolefin, will easily tear in a straight line in the oriented direction without the need of a tear strip, can be heat shrunk in the range of three to twenty percent in the oriented direction by exposure of about ten seconds to a temperature of about 225.degree. F., and is formed by uniaxially orienting polyolefin at a temperature in the range of 120.degree. to 170.degree. C. by stretching the polypropylene without restraining its edges at a draw ratio in the range of 3/1 to 10/1 and then quickly cooled to prevent substantial heat annealing.
