ABSTRACT:
A container closure assembly having a container neck and a closure for said container neck. The closure is retained on the container neck by a screw thread on at least one of the closure and the container neck. A sealing mechanism is provided for forming a seal between the closure and the container neck when the closure is at a sealing position on the container neck. Furthermore, there is an urging mechanism co-operating between the closure and the container neck when the closure is near the sealing position to urge the closure into the sealing position independently of whether an external closing torque is being applied to the closure, and thereafter the urging mechanism maintains the closure in the sealing position until a sufficient external release force is applied to the closure.
