ABSTRACT:
A method for sterilizing contact lenses and especially hydrophilic (soft) contact lenses comprising contacting a contact lens for a period of time sufficient to sterilize the lens with a substantially isotonic, aqueous composition having a pH between 6-9 comprising about 0.01 to about 0.3 percent by weight of an ene-diol compound such as reductic acid and from about 0.1 to about 25 ppm copper ion.
