ABSTRACT:
In a conical roller bearing for supporting a pinion shaft of a differential gear, the contact angle .alpha. of a conical roller bearing for supporting the pinion shaft is controlled between 22.degree. and 28.degree.; the ratio of the diameter Da of the conical roller at the larger-diameter end face to its length L is controlled between 0.51 and 1.0; and the roller number coefficient k is controlled to range from 1.16 to 1.32. The conical roller bearing constructed thus contributes to better fuel economy on automobiles by fully ensuring the necessary levels of fatigue strength and bearing rigidity and yet reducing the dynamic torque it develops.
