A push bar assembly or the like having a plurality of bars retained by extruded mounting members which receive the ends of the bars whereby the mounting members may be secured in fixed, spaced relationship to a structure to captively retain the bars, and further having cover or cap elements which are retained with respect to the bars and the mounting members to conceal both the ends of the captively retained bars and the securing elements by which the mounting members are secured in fixed, spaced relationship.
