ABSTRACT:
A computer controlled disk storage unit operating much like a jukebox but having the read/write mechanism moving to access a series of digital disks instead of the usual jukebox methods which consist of moving the disks to where the read/write system is. In the machine described here, the disks are accessed while staying inside their individual storage compartments, called "slots" in this application.
