ABSTRACT:
A compound grip for handguns for delaying, redirecting and absorbing shock produced after firing attaches to the rear frame portion of the handgun adjacent the trigger guard. The compound grip includes an elastomeric base, a pair of palmpiece inserts and alignment finger rests. The base also includes one or more fluid filled bags rearward of the rear frame portion of the handgun. A pair of mirror image palmpiece inserts each include an embedded gel sac which delays the aftershock forces. Upon firing of the handgun, the gel sac delays the aftershock forces, the fluid-filled bags absorbs these forces and redirects them, the elastomeric finger rests maintain realignment of the handgun, and the palmpiece inserts retain adequate "feel" of the handgun.
