ABSTRACT:
A gap-filling, adhesive composition is provided which is used between polymeric tie plates and the dapped area of a wood, concrete or polyethylene cross tie. This composition contains 65 to 75 wt. % of an asphalt having a softening point in the range of 75.degree. C. to 100.degree. C., 10 to 20 wt. % of a styrene butadiene copolymer having a molecular weigh of 60,000 to 91,000, and 7 to 25 wt. % of a processing oil having a viscosity in the range of 427 poises at 37.78.degree. C. to around 2,500 poises at 37.78.degree. C. and having a flash point in the range of 210.degree. C. to around 250.degree. C. The composition has a viscosity in the range of about 100 to around 300 poises at 150.degree. C.
