A novel probiotic strain termedLactobacillus pentosusNCIMB 41114 is capable of preventing growth of pathogenic microorganisms in the GI tract. In particular, this bacterium inhibitsCandidaovergrowth, and can be employed to prevent and treat associated diseases, including IBS and thrush.
