ABSTRACT:
A composite structure useful as an implant material in bones includes a matrix made of Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 --ZrO.sub.2 (Y.sub.2 O.sub.3) ceramic material. The surface of the matrix is non-monocrystallized. A bio-active layer covers the matrix surface.
