ABSTRACT:
A composite member includes circumferentially extending ceramic fibers in a metallic matrix. A rotor member integrally includes such a ceramic fiber/metal matrix composite member to reinforce a homogeneous remainder portion of the rotor member with respect to centrifugally induced stresses.
