A compact photographic camera lens system for use in a compact camera using Leica size film. In order to reduce the overall length of the lens system and the number of constituent lens elements of the lens system, an aspherical surface is introduced into part of the lens system and aberrations are properly corrected up to a field angle of approximately 63.degree..
