ABSTRACT:
In ISDN switching equipment networks, the connection of an ISDN terminal equipment (TE) occurs either through a two-wire interface (U.sub.o) or through a four-wire interface (S.sub.o). The ISDN terminal equipment (TE) is formed such that either the U.sub.o or the S.sub.o interface is connectable through a single interface connection. A detector means (DE), a plurality of switch means (SM) and an additional power supply (S) are connected to the ISDN terminal equipment (TE) such that the connection of a U.sub.o interface or S.sub.o interface is automatically detected and is gated to a U.sub.o terminating equipment (U.sub.o E) or to an S.sub.o terminating equipment (S.sub.o E). When a U.sub.o interface connection to the ISDN terminal equipment (TE) is detected, then, by using further switch means (SM) and the S.sub.o terminating equipment (S.sub.o E), the U.sub.o interface is converted into a S.sub.o interface and is available at an additional plug connector (ZSV) for the purpose of connecting further ISDN terminal equipment (TE). When a S.sub.o interface connection is detected in the ISDN terminal equipment (TE), then further switch means (SM) through-connect the S.sub.o interface (S.sub.o) to the additional plug connector (ZSV) for the purpose of connecting further ISDN terminal equipment (TE).
